dream catcher

DREAM CATCHER

The dream catcher, which originated from native american culture, is an item that is hung in the sleeping area so that the sunlight can hit it. The purpose of the dream catcher is to attract all sorts of dreams. Bad dreams can't make their way through the web unlike good ones.

Having dreams about frogs

Frogs are very frequent characters that appear in dreams. Frogs appear more frequently in women's dreams as opposed to the dreams of men. Men dream of toads more often than frogs. Despite the fact that the amphibious creature is more often than not associated with its unpleasant appearance, a frog can be interpreted positively. Frog's are associated with its metamorphosis of the tadpole to frog, and because it lives both in water and on land. Its evolution symbolizes the transformation of the human mind. The frog can be considered a pure soul, surrounded by an ugly appearance. If jumping cheerfully in your dream, the frog foretells a happy and joyful heart, because you will have good luck in everything you attempt.

Do animals dream?

Regardless of what your Phd is, it's common knowledge that animals sleep. However, it is still unknown if they actually dream.
Sleeping animals, like cats, dogs, and rats, can be seen twitching and "reacting" to things in their sleep. There is a stage of sleep called Rapid Eye Movement (or REM). REM is when your eyeballs  start darting all around, under your closed eyelids. It reflects activity in your brain. Animals go through REM, so it can be speculated that they do dream.

My Favorite Sleep Food Should Be Yours Too

There are many foods that help promote sleep. The ways that these food help varies from each type. For instance, cherries are used to promote vivid dreams and warm milk is used to help fall into a deeper sleep. My personal favorite is rice because it's extremely tasty, goes good with everything, and promotes a deep sleep. The only issue that I see with consuming rice before bed is the risk of acid reflux.  Other foods that promote sleep are: Cereal, Chamomile Tea, Passionfruit Tea, Honey, Kale, Shrimp, Lobster, Hummus, and Elk

Our Rating On Midwoodblogs

Midwoodblogs is nothing more than an unfunny joke. Their goal is to rate other blogs but are extremely biased and lazy. When we were being "interviewed" we were asked the most general questions that barely even pertained to us and our blog. The questions asked could have been asked to any blog. Here's my question: Do our answers truly reflect the amount of quality content and the relevance of our posts pertaining to our page?
Our interviewer did not even take as much as a glance at our blog. Another point that the review said was that we're "too informative". I don't even understand how that is a negative aspect of our blog. This truly shows how our interviewer could not take a second to actually look at our blog. Adding to this, Midwoodblogs' review was referring to us directly. The review was repeatedly stating "you" and "yours". This shows that only only is their post uninformative but also made to directly jab at us.
Additionally, we were being interviewed while we were working on our own blog. Why is it our responsibility to take the time out of our short period to answer her silly questions.
We rate Midwoodblog a  Whydoyoueventry/10

Sleep Paralysis

John Henry Fuseli - The Nightmare.JPG
The Nightmare, by Henry Fuseli (1781)

Sleep paralysis is when you are awake and conscious and awake but can't move you're body. This usually occurs when falling asleep or waking. When you sleep, your body is relaxed and kept still because of a brain process known as atonia. This happens during REM sleep so we don't physically act out our dreams while sleeping. Sleep paralysis is when you are experiencing REM atonia but are awake and aware. Most people are frightened by the sudden immobility and experience hallucinations, mostly malicious beings, sounds, or energies. Many feel an evil energy standing on their chest.

Dreams and Nightmares In The Pokemon World

There are many Pokemon that are based off of dreams. Among these are the mythical Pokemon, Darkrai and the legendary Pokemon, Cresselia.
Darkrai is known as the "pitch-black" Pokemon and is known for putting people to sleep with his attack, dark void. This attack causes never ending nightmares and can only be stopped with the help from Cresselia.Cresselia can be seen as an opposite of Darkrai, as Darkrai causes nightmares, whereas Cresselia prevents them
Cresselia and Darkrai are also found on islands that can be seen as counterparts to one another. Darkrai is found on Newmoon Island while Cresselia is found on Fullmoon Island. This is also fitting because the new moon is absent of light as opposed to the full moon which is when the moon exhibits the most light.
In addition to this, there is a story in the Pokemon universe about a little girl who is put to sleep by Darkrai. The girl's parents search far and wide to find a remedy for her curse but fail. The girl is later abandoned by her parents and left in her house to starve to death. The girl's ghost is seen inhabiting the house and can only be put to rest with the help from Cresselia.

Falling In A Dream

The most frequent among all common dreams we experience in our lifetime is falling. Usually the dream ends right before you hit the ground. This is a very frightful experience and is not even a dream at all; it is more like a nightmare. This nightmare does not just occur randomly. A theory about this nightmare is that it is your subconscious trying to communicate with your conscious. Basically your mind is trying to tell you something. This theory suggests that you lost control over a particular situation in your life and you need to fix it. These situations can be linked to work, school, home and even your relatiosnhips.

There are many types of falling nightmares. The list below suggests what each type of nightmare might mean

Types Of Falling Dreams:
-Losing Balance – Dreams of losing balance suggests that the problem lays within you. You are not stable at this moment and need grounding in your life. You need to find ways to become more confident with people and with yourself.
-Pushed- If somebody pushed you to your death implies that somebody might be pushing you overboard mentally. If you are working too hard at work and don’t think you can keep up you might experience a dream of this nature. It’s also quite possible that you might be pushing yourself to the point of exhaustion. Did you know who pushed you? If you know, then the answer is right in front of you.

-Location – Remembering the location in your dream can be quite rewarding when it comes to finding the true meaning. If the location is familiar to you then its quite possible that this is the place that is causing you distress. For example, if you fell of the roof in your home suggest that you might be having some issue with your family at home. You may have lost control in your house and is on your mind.

-Lost Grip – Losing grip and then falling to your death in your dream is a horrible feeling. This means that you are not confident with yourself in difficult situations. People who experience this type of dream usually has issues with there relationship. You may feel that your partner may have the upper hand on you and it eating away on your conscious. Try and recall what in your life that you may have lost control over a certain situation.

-Holding On - Holding on for dear life in your dream suggests that you are trying your best to fix a situation you may have no control over. This can either be with your relationship, friends or your family. This dreams are usually very scary and unless you don’t fix the problem in your life it will occur time and time again.

***People – Who was with you when you where falling? This helps break down the people in your life that may be causing your stress. If you fall with people you recognize then it suggest that they are in the same situation as them.

***How Did You Fall – Remembering how you fell on the ground can suggest what needs to be fixed in your life. If you fell on your back implies that you need more support in your life. If you fell on your hands means that you need more of a hand with people that are close to you.  If you fell in water means that you are emotionally breaking down and need to address your problem asap

Slipping - Slipping on a very high surface and plummeting to your death is a quite a scary experience.  Slipping to your death suggests that you will eventually “slip up” in a particular situation that will cause emotional distress. You need to get back on track with your life to how it once was!'

Somebody Help – If you dream where you are ready to fall and somebody saves you suggest that somebody will help you out of a tough situation that you are in.

Reality Checks

How do you know you are dreaming?

There are a couple of ways you can know for sure if you are dreaming or not. These are reality checks and can be done throughout the day. If you end up doing it in a dream because of habit, you will trigger a lucid dream since now you are aware that you are dreaming.  You can look at your hands. If you are awake of course you will see 5 fingers on each hand. However, in a dream you wont have normal hands. Usually there are extra or missing fingers, or your hands are just blurry and disformed. Here are some other reality checks you can do throughout your waking life.

-Looking at a clock, away from it, then back at it. In the real world, The time will be the same, or maybe the time changed by a minute. In the dream world, the time will always be scrambled and changing.

-Try to put your finger through the palm of your other hand. If it works, you are dreaming.

-Flip a light switch every now and then. If you do it in a dream, the lighting in the scene will not change and you will know you are dreaming.

Binaural Beats

A binaural beat is an auditory illusion perceived when two different pure-tone sine waves, both with frequencies lower than 1500 Hz, with less than a 40 Hz difference between them, are presented to a listener dichotically, that is one through each ear. For example, if a 530 Hz tone is presented to a subject 's right ear and a 530 Hz tone is presented to a subject's left ear, the listener will perceive the auditory illusion of a third one. In simpler words, if two tones with two different frequencies are played dichotcially, the brain will make up for the lost frequency by making it's own. This is an amazing phenomenon that helps with concentration, meditation and most importantly. lucid dreaming. If you listen to a binaural beat as you sleep, it can activate a lucid dream.

The Dream Where The Ability To Run Is Negated.

Have you ever had the dream where you no matter how hard you try to run, you feel as though you're being pushed back? If so, then there is a scientific explanation to help you comprehend this phenomenon.
When we enter a state of dreaming, our brain stops sending signals to a certain system in your body that allows you to have voluntary control over your limbs. This seemingly strange event has a very important purpose. It's done to prevent our bodies from actually moving in our sleep.
What do you think about this explanation? Have you ever had a dream where you couldn't run? We'd love to know.

The Animal Most Associated with Dreams (In my opinion)

In my opinion, the Sloth is the animal that is most associated with dreams. The sloth is known for its inability to react fast or just move fast in general. In fact, Sloths only come down from their trees once a week, which is only when they need to urinate or defecate. The sloth definitely spends most of their time dreaming in my opinion. If my theory is correct, then there may be many possible things that sloths can dream about. What do you think sloths dream about? Leave your hypothesis as a comment.

KEEP A DREAM JOURNAL

For a dream journal you can use a notebook, notepad on your phone, or any other place where you can consistently record your dreams.

Every time you wake up be sure to record your dream. Every color, smell, character should be recorded with much detail.

Even if you don't have a dream, make sure you record the fact that you didn't.

Do this consistently and you'll be experiencing more and more dreams. That's a fact, Cuz.

The Origin of Modern Sleep Theory

It wasn’t until the nineteenth century when Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung proposed their first theories that most closely resemble our view of dreaming today. Freud’s theory was based around the idea of: repressed longing, or the idea that dreaming allows us to sort through unresolved, repressed wishes.

Lucid Dreaming

Lucid Dreaming is when a dreamer is aware that they're in a dream. Their will and skill affects how much control they will have in this lucid dream. With enough practice, a lucid dream can become your own world. In which, things like changing the scenery and flying are possible. There are no limits to what a lucid dream can amount to.
